Industrial touchscreen monitor – what to look for?

The brightness of the displayed image plays an important role when choosing an industrial touchscreen monitor. It is a very important parameter of the industrial display. High and very high screen luminance is necessary in certain working conditions, such as brightly lit halls, warehouses, vehicles, or outdoor use in full sunlight. The luminance parameter is usually expressed in cd/m² (candela per square meter) or nits. For example, 300 cd/m² equals 300 nits. For reference – indoors, display brightness between 250–500 cd/m² is usually sufficient, while outdoor environments require 1000–3000 cd/m².

Industrial display – what to look for?

One of the basic parameters indicating the durability and protection of industrial monitors is the IP standard. In our distribution offer, we provide durable monitors with the following protection combinations:

• IP65 rating for the front panel (if the industrial monitor is installed in a wall or control cabinet – the front part of the housing will be fully resistant to dust, moisture, and splashing or jet water from a garden hose),

• IP66/67 rating for the entire housing and connectors – full protection against dust and dirt, as well as resistance to short-term immersion in water (30 minutes at a depth of 0.15 m above the top of the housing or 1 m above the bottom for housings lower than 0.85 m),
• IP68 rating for the entire industrial monitor (including connectors and ports) – total protection against dust and complete water immersion from 1 to 3 meters deep (depending on the manufacturer), without time limitation.

Depending on project needs and requirements – monitors designed for production lines, halls, combat vehicles, fire trucks, or buses – may feature USB, HDMI, DVI, DP, VGA, LVDS ports and be powered with voltages ranging from 9 to 32 volts.

Mounting types for industrial monitors:

• wall mounting via VESA bracket,
• in a 19-inch rack cabinet,
• as a panel-mounted display.

Additionally, most mounting types can be fitted with articulated arms with multiple adjustment planes.
